“The Balvenie Tun 1401 takes its name from the traditional wooden tun in which it is married. Balvenie Malt Master, David Stewart, first experimented with the marrying tun in 2010, when he selected small samples of The Balvenie from six of the distillery’s most precious casks. He then left them to spend a few months getting to know one another in the oak vessel and, as he expected, the resulting malt proved to be even greater than the sum of its parts. This first batch of The Balvenie Tun 1401 was only available at the distillery and was highly prized by many. Now this rare Highland single malt whisky is available world-wide but in a limited release.” – per The Balvenie

“Tun 1401 is the Balvenie’s traditional oak marrying vessel and is cared for by the distillery’s onsite team of coopers. The 6^th Batch to have rested within is fragrant, fruity and malty on the nose with barley sugar sweetness and soft vanilla. The taste is sweet at the start, followed by a luscious explosion of tangy citrus and gentle spices. Mouth-filling honey combines with vanilla syrup and hints of oak tannins.
