New to Lukas Wine & Spirits, Kilchoman 100% Islay 23nd Edition SMSW (50% ABV)!
“The spirit is filled into a combination of bourbon barrels from the Buffalo Trace Distillery, Kentucky, USA and oloroso sherry butts from Miguel Martin in Spain.
The 2nd 100% Islay release from Kilchoman and has been produced from barley grown, malted, distilled, matured and bottled at the distillery. It has been aged for over three years in a combination of fresh and refill bourbon barrels.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Light gold.
Nose: Soft peaty aromas and a blend of citrus, lemon and pear drops.
Palate: An initial sweetness is followed by soft peat smoke and the mixed fruits.
Finish: Long, clean and fresh.
The Kilchoman Distillery was founded in 2005 and is the first distillery to be built on Islay for 120 years. It is a farm distillery and a proportion of the barley used in production is grown and malted at the distillery.

Just a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Anthony Wills, founder of the Kilchoman Distillery on Islay, Scotland at a private Scotch Class here at Lukas Wine & Spirits. What I & others learned that night was the true passion/vision it takes to not only create a distillery but what it takes to make high-quality distillate that will become single malt scotch whisky. Mr. Wills & the Kilchoman Distillery have surrounded themselves with some of Scotland’s best and brightest talent to help create unique and beautiful whisky’s like the 100% Islay 2nd Edition.
Lukas Wine & Spirits also shared a mutual respect and appreciation with Mr. Wills and Kilchoman due to their ongoing support and selection of designer selected barrels from the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Mr. Wills spoke very highly of the quality that Buffalo Trace brings to the table and we, along with our Buffalo Trace customers could not agree more.
