From the beautiful & historic state of Virginia, comes the A. Bowman Distillery!

“A. Smith Bowman’s distilling roots began before Prohibition. The Bowman family had a dairy & granary farm in Fairfax County, VA that they called Sunset Hills. Excess grain from the farm was used to start distilling spirits. In 1935, after the Repeal of Prohibition, Abram Smith Bowman built and licensed a slightly more modern distillery. In 1988, the distillery was moved to its current location, nestled in the historic city of Fredericksburg, VA in Spotsylvania County. Here, A. Smith Bowman continued and provided great contributions to our country, the state of Virginia and the whiskey industry.

As a small and privately owned company, A. Smith Bowman Distillery continus the time-honered traditions on which it was founded. With the help of out trusty still, “Mary”, A. Smith Bowman produces an assortment of spirits distilled from only the finest natural ingredients, crafted by hand, every step of the way. George T Stagg KSBW Ranked No. 1!

The Buffalo Trace Distillery’s, George T Stagg KSBW, was just named, “Top Spirit in the World” for the second consecutive year in a row, by the world renowned spirits critic, F. Paul Pacult. Per the June 2012 Spirits Journal publication, George T Stagg KSBW takes the #1 spot again by beating out a tough Northern Highland SMSW. In 2011, Stagg unseated the award-winning Highland Park 18 Year SMSW to become the first American Whiskey to EVER win the coveted spot.

The Buffalo Trace Distillery only utilizes the very best ingredients and distillation techniques when creating the George T Stagg. Kentucky grown corn, Minnesota rye & malted North Dakota barley make up the mashbill and are combined with Kentucky limestone filtered water to optimize the best fermentation conditions around. After Distillation at 135 proof, Stagg is brought down to 125 proof and is then filled into newly level 4 charred (aka alligator char) American White Oak from right here in our own backyard, Lebanon, MO.  Barrels are then aged in Warehouses H (same as the famous Blanton’s KSBW), I, K & J. Age of the hand selected barrels varies from year to year but right around17-18 years is the average. Also, the newly bottled whiskey is at, “barrel strength” meaning it has NOT been cut with any water to bring down the ABV/Proof. All of these factors, techniques and passion are what makes not only the Buffalo Trace Distillery one of the top whiskey distillers in the entire world, but the creator of the most highly rated spirit/ whiskey, IN THE WORLD, two years in a row. A major congratulations to Master Distiller, Harlen Wheatley and his team of experts, earning this great honor and providing all of us a phenomenal line of products to enjoy year-round and like the George T Stagg, once a year. Either way, we are all grateful.

This KSBW only comes out once a year and is extremely rare/difficult to procure a bottle. The Glenmorangie 15 Yr Artein Private Collection 3rd Release Highland SMSW has earned the prestigious 5 Star rating from the Spirit Journal. It earned the rating and spot right behind the two-year in a row winner, George T Stagg Barrel Strength KSBW. The Artein is limited edition release is the 3rd in the line of specialty SMSW’s created by Glenmorangie’s Head of Distilling & Whisky Creation, Dr. Bill Lumsden. Aged in former Jack Daniel’s barrels and finished in Italian Super Tuscan Wine Casks, this is one of the most complex,beautiful & enjoyable whisky’s that I have come across from Glenmorangie. Just arrived: The 2009 Peter Michael ‘Les Pavots’ Proprietary Red Wine is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot.

While 2010 was a challenging vintage in California, the stars seemed to align in ’09, and this wine is the result. 96 points, The Wine Advocate ”#199”
February 2012.

  • Lukas was the very first retail wine & spirits store in the state of Missouri to ever carry this Award Winning Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. We believed in this brand when no one else did and have built it into our best-selling bourbon since 2005.

     

  • Since December of 2005, we have sold over 7,900 (750ml) bottles and are just now closing in on selling our 8,000th bottle. That does not even count our 1.75L bottles.

     

  • We have been hand-selecting our own barrels (two at a time) since 2008 with the help of our fantastic bourbon & whiskey connoisseur’s.

     

  • Lukas is on par to do a record 6 full barrels, just this year!

Brinkley Shipwrecked Spiced Rum uses Caribbean rum that is aged for four years creating a very mellow spirit, yet full of flavors like orange, vanilla, clove and nutmeg. The recipie is based on and dedicated to actual British troop ship that sunk off the St. Kitt’s coast in 1782.
