Jura Superstition Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Jura is an island wrapped in superstition: never cut peat before May and always build haystacks in a clockwise direction. Perhaps it’s the one regarding the Ankh cross that demands greatest attention. This ancient Egyptian symbol is rumored to bring good fortune – just so long as you pour the whisky in the correct manner. Hold the bottle with the Ankh cross in the center of your palm, they say, and good fortune will surely follow.
Jura Superstition is crafted from the selection of the finest aged Jura single malt whiskies. This mysterious spirit has unique style and character, with tastes of tangy cinnamon, ginger spice, and honey with whispers of salty sea spray, rich coffee and roasted chestnuts.
Glenmorangie Bacalta Single Malt Scotch Whiskey
The eighth release in our multi-award-winning and always intriguing Private Edition, Glenmorangie Bacalta brings new heights of complexity to a rare wood finish. Inspired by the long, balmy days on the island of Madeira, Glenmorangie Bacalta (Scots Gaelic for “baked”) is a sun-soaked single malt which delivers wonderfully warm layers of sweetness, brimming with baked fruits and honeyed tones. It has been created from Glenmorangie first matured in former bourbon casks, then extra-matured in bespoke casks baked under the sun which once contained Malmsey Madeira – the sweetest and most prized of the Madeira wines.
Aroma: Fragrant, honeyed and sweet. Some ripe apricots, mead-like, and a curious flinty note, followed by sweet white chocolate.
Taste: An initial burst of mint toffee, with baked fruits such as caramelised oranges, honeycomb, almonds and dates.
Finish: A rich, syrupy aftertaste, with more caramelised citrus and pears, creamy fudge, and an intriguing mentholic sensation in the background.
Balvenie 17yr Doublewood
To craft DoubleWood 17 Year Old, David Stewart, who celebrates his 50th year at The Balvenie in 2012, returned to one of his most celebrated achievements – consecutive maturation in two different types of cask, a process often referred to as ‘cask finishing.’
This technique is at the heart of The Balvenie DoubleWood – it sees the whisky matured first in American oak barrels, which impart soft sweet vanilla notes, before being transferred to European oak sherry casks, where the second cask aging adds rich spicy flavors, depth and fullness of flavor.
An elder sibling to the popular DoubleWood 12 Year Old, this new aged version shares the same DNA and the honeyed, spicy characteristics as the 12 Year Old, but it is distinctly different, with deeper vanilla notes, hints of green apple, creamy toffee and a striking richness and complexity.
