Winemaker Greg Harrington watches the first grapes come in from the 2016 harvest
Last year I was able to attend an industry event in Walla Walla that was meant to highlight the quality of wines coming from that region. Over forty wineries were present for three days of tasting and I was absolutely blown away by the caliber and quality of the wine. One of the true highlights was visiting Gramercy Cellars late one night as the first grapes came in from harvest. Watching the winemaker and cellar hands handle the first crush was a very unique experience. When the work was complete the owner and winemaker Greg Harrington started to pull some really cool bottles from his cellar. Greg’s blend of hospitality, industry insight and an absolute command of wine knowledge made for an incredible night. For a while, he held the record for being the youngest ever to pass the Master Sommelier test at the age of 26.
We are lucky to have Greg joining us via Facetime in our tasting room September 21st. We will sample through the wine while he explains the wines and vineyards he sources from. You can ask questions and I bet he can answer them. I work in this industry full time and it’s a very rare occasion where I can pick the brain of a Master Sommelier. I urge every customer of ours that is a true lover of wine to attend this event.
