Just Arrived – Valentino Barolo “Vigna d’la Raoul” 2001

Extremely Limited Availability – Call or stop by today!
from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate #173 October 2007:
The 2001 Barolo Vigna d’la Roul is the most classic of these 2001 Barolos. It reveals phenomenal balance in its layers of dark cherries, violets, tar, new leather, sweet toasted oak and mentholated, balsamic overtones that develop in the glass. This massively structured, large-scaled Barolo reveals an unusual amount of detail for such a big wine. It will require considerable patience, but will offer much pleasure to those who can wait. Vigna d’la Roul is the oldest of the family’s holdings and was the principal component of many of the estate’s legendary wines, including the 1978 Valentino Riserva. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2026.

Don’t miss these two highly sought-after Cabs!

Plumpjack Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2008

From the Oakville estate of Plumpjack (the former Villa Mt. Eden Vineyard made famous by Nils Venge, whom I believe is still a consultant), the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has a gorgeous nose of creme de cassis, licorice, and graphite. Flawlessly put together, with delicate tannins, full body, but elegance combined with power, this impressively pure, layered, multi-dimensional Cabernet Sauvignon is already drinkable. It need another 5-7 years to gain complexity, but this is a superb 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon to be drunk now or cellared for two decades.

Orin Swift Winery “Mercury Head” Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

A true “Mercury Head” Liberty Dime is all that adorns the front of this bottle, serving as its label. A powerful image that makes you notice this wine – pick one up before it’s gone – last year’s vintage (the 2007) was rated 93 out of 100 points by the Wine Advocate.
